wishing Victoria all the best for recovery and rebuilding

This last week we have seen so much of Australia under flood waters and then the awful fires in Victoria.

I can't say I know how they are feeling becauseI'm not there in person but I feel sad and have cried lots when watching the news.

When my husband heard the news Sunday morning he said they will call for help I'm sure he was asked to go as a fire fighther and chief of our local tem , he said yes straight away to the call, I need to go and help the other fireies.

He has been gone all week and due home Friday we saw him on the news and he rings me everyday , his sister talks to him of a evening then e-mails me with updates.

I have never been away from him for this long I miss him heaps but I know he is coming home to me Friday it makes me wonder how much aching Victoris families are going through when so many lives have been lost.

There are amazing stories coming outof Victoria and slowly as the week goes on there are blessings arising which people are hanging onto for hope

Victoria will recover and will rebuild I wish them all the best as they work out where to start

I have given and my hubby gave his work time up we are proud he was able to help and he will go again if the call is put out to the Tassie fighthers again, it makes alo realize what a special person he is in this field of work.

Then today I was talking to family members there are 3 from one family doing things and my bil as well

SIL - Making fire uniforms of all sorts
SIL - Hospital nurse/sister
BIL- helping with insurance

My DH - fire fighther

They have all different training but they are all helping Victoria in there areas of work makes me proud to be Aussie and part of there family.

Leave you with his question

What have you done to help?
What have you done different today because of the awful week Australia has had?
When did you last ring or cuddle a family memeber ?

Do you ever wonder?

Do you ever wonder what makes people tick or come up with ideas. At the pool the other day my son and a friend where talking about making the earth floatable it all game around due to way our earth is changing,

I asked what would you use to float it with ,"beer can and coke cans" was the answer I then asked what would you hold it together with "stickytape" was there answer

As I asked each question all the answers related back to something really simple in each ones home which they use every day of the week .

they are 14 and 15 years old but they had some great ideas and plan

My question to you is :- What can you do today for the world - even if it's a samll thing in the long run it will add up

I work at a shop and a person brought 2 drinks and asked could he pop the empty containers in the bin I said leave them on counter I'll pop them in the recycle bin

his coment was Cool Thanks thats great

it was onlysomething small but made him feel good

here's a huge catch up for those who follow along

The court case is still happening and hopefully soon we will have an out come of some sort

My middle son rolled his car a few times but everyone was okay it caused a few headaches at the tie but all is well now and all teens are happy again

I resigned from my job yep I did - lots of reasons but sometimes you have to step back which is what I did and it was teh right thing for me .Sure it was good money but you know what money isn't everything and I know I was placed here to do more than work for good money

It has changed the way I look at things and the way I supply things for my family ,it gives me time to spend with every child(sad when you don't know your own child up street), to enjoy other peoples company and do some things for me but most of all it has given me my freedom back and now I'm less busy which I love.

it's also given me my easy nature back again I don't stress much but when things get on top of me I get crabby and annoyed easy and thats what was happening so I have made the right choice for myself

I did achieve my goal of being coordinator but I never said how long I would be one so I'm happy as I still achieved my goal

since Christmas my dad got the shingles and is okay they ope to come and stay next month
my youngest soon goes back to school but he has had a great school holiday woth lots of trips here and everywhere

close up

here is a close up of the masking Tech I learnt last weekend while in Geelong
I will be trying this on other layouts and with different photos as I found it so much fun and something I could do in the family room

Masking Class

I went to a masking class and was taught how to use them right and how to finish the layout off with a mask.

Found this interesting and fun to do as I have never done this before it was something really new to me and the teacher Simonne who is a Design Team Memebr for Scrapping Around
did a great job of teaching me I really enjoyed this class

Found you need time and you also need to have a great creative mind and you need to play with teh mask before going ahead with where it needs to go on the layout

This was a really fun class to do and yes I will do masking again one day

RETREAT share

Billy Can
Billy Can was made by sanding the suface of the lid and painting it all over when I took the photo light wasn't right for the lid so will upload that later on
I covered it with card stock and paper then added flowers and bling till I was happy with the design.
adding the ribbons was fun and I used ribbons from swaps all sorts of colours to give the tin a happy look
I still need to add my name and some other bits but apart from that it is finished

Scrapping Around Retreat

Had a wonderful time at my 1st retreat every and can't wait till the next one

we boarded the plane Friday the 19th and landed at 11am for a fun filled weekend and came back to Tassie late Monday night .Luke was happy as it was school holidays so it ended his 2 weeks off great

I have some thinsg to share which I made whle away was pleased with them all as I had never ade these types of things before

Thursday, September 04, 2008

Cong's goes to Luke for being a Junior Design Team member .He was so happy when I told him he had been asked to be part of SCRAPPING AROUND .

he is one of his layouts with him paddling on the river in our town as last summer the pool wasn't opened but the river was so much fun on very hot days

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

Mt Paris Dam

over the hoildays and weekends we often pack a picnic and tour our local bush land this place is not far from my home town and it's a great place to take the boys back into the Bush to enjoy the beauty of Tasmania
I enjoyed doing this layout and use some new supplies from Scrapping Around
Marcus sanded the paper for me as I was cooking tea he said that looks nice card stock I said yes but it could be sanded to show the colour underneath, the result was a light shade of blue showing through
I like the way my photo captures the water flow even though it was the middle of summer in the native bush land there was enough water flowing for all wildlife and plant life

Circut Expression

My husband brought me this machine and I love how it cuts and howal my things come out looking great, the more I play with it the more I'm learning it can cut different things ,being abl to press buttons an it knows exactly what I need it to do making my scrapping and card making so much easier

Colour Competition

New comptition over at SCRAPPING AROUND

boy time has gone

well with work and family things I haven't been here for a while

just a update for you all

my soon hasn't been to court but the other person has and it's an on going case

My husband has found full time work and I have gained more hours in my work place

It changes a few things for me a there have been things I haven't done before and will be learning more about these areas , still doing cert 4 in small business management and adult ed course which has been fun

weather in Tassie is cold at night but warming up through the day and if you get in the right stop when sun is shinning down it's really nice.

all the males have had colds and have now got over them but it took time to disappear , colds/flus seem to come so quick but take ages to go away

I'm really looking forward to next month when I fly out for a few days my hubby may not be looking forward to the trip away as I usually bruise his knee caps as I don't always like flying so I hope it's a nice day

well I better go and start getting things ready for tomorrow it never stops in our home and there is always plenty to rattle on about if you like to read my blog I'll give you all something to read about

take care everyone - remember a smile can make someones day a happy day

Happening at last - Re Aussie Mateship post

Well going back to the Aussie Mateship thread I placed up here awhile ago about my son being hurt and others helping him because of their bond through Mateship we are starting to get answers

The case is starting to go through the court here in our town and the person has been charged they need to go back to court in the coming months but at last we have action on an awful deed that wasn't caused by our son

Hopefully he will be able to get on with life and live it to the fullest as anyone can

I believe with all my heart we are placed here for a purpose in life
weather it be to rasie our own children
to make some one smile
to help plant a wonderland for all Creatures Great and Small
to be involved with community members that make us become out of self

I also believe when your life's work is done you will be taken from here and be given the rest you deserve so much

Sometimes it is hard to do your best with what life throws up at you but through what has happened to my son I know now he has many friends from all over teh place mayb more friends than me who are willing to help if the need every rise's again

why because it's ---- say's his friends to me he wouldn't hurt a fly he is fun , harmful type of person and I can't but feel a since of pride to think we as his parents have brought him up in a good way so that he will be a true gentleman at heart

no one can get through life with out a friend of some sort

I will leave you with these 2 quotes one a general quote one a bible verse

Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers."
- Proverbs 18:24

Friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life."
- (sent by Dior Yamasaki)

photo time

boy I haven't been here for a longer time but
I know have new photos to share with you all will find them tomorrow night after work and post
Do you know what this is ?and no it's not a UFO. I was walking home from the footy ground where I had taken profile photos of 2 players with my camera in hand I set it to the candle setting and aimed at the light.
It is actually the street light outside my place that guided me home in the dark it was only 6pm
There is a certain glow that the camera picked up and now I want to take more photos with my candle setting to see what I can achieve with my photos. I didn't go to any fire works this year but if you did and have photos to share send them to me and I'll post them up on this blog for you to share .

School Holidays

My son has laid around the house and not getting up till 10am or later
ohh to be on Holidays and no school is great when it's all wintery outside

He has done so much over the holidays that time has flown and it's almost back to school for him . It's been a nice spell not having to do lunches and make sure homework is done on time.

My other son spent his 1st week donw at Tafe we live about 4 hours away so he caught the bus Sunday and got a ride back with a friend. Which saved us petrol and money in the long run

He goes for 2 weeks on Sunday and hopes to stay with family on the central coast which will save him lots of travelling and us as well

It was interesting when he went we all missed him and I got used to the quiet and sleep ins because normally he needs to be taken to work which is 5;30am start for us all .So it's really nice when he goes to away for a bit I get to sleep in longer

As soon as he was home the noise level picked up and we knew he was back don't you just love the noise's boys all make together

It's mine no it's mine , I brought that no mum did

makes you wonder why they do this and yes there is a reason for it all

1 they are both different
2 helps them to have conflict that they learn to sort by themselves
3 it's there way of showing love to each other
4 what esle is a younger brother for

well I'll leave you to ponder on these points

Amazing Scrap Race

Art Weekend

long weekend in Tassie for the Queens birthday

I enetred some photos in the a photo competition and my son won $250.00 he is over the moon

I also spent the day in church hall showing my skills as a scrapper and it was interesting to see how many people came through the doors who where scrappers or card makers

Every person had there own way of doing things and it was great to share with these people

Thankyou to all teh people who commented on my ablum and my work it was a pleasure to show you all what I do as a scrapper .

I do hope to go next year and maybe I'll have lots more to show and teach every one

One of the things that people where interested in today was Chipboard, paint and kidy Glitz and what you can achieve with them all

For me on a personal level it was great to share with others who enjoy paper crafts know that I can learn from them and they can learn from me

I also made some scrapping friends who would love to get together for a lesson or just to scrap on a weekly thing . Which I'm looking forward to as I don't belong to any group in my local area

Anyway I had a great day out scrapping and sharing my skill and would encourage anyone to do teh same if they get the chance to display there work go for it because so many new doors open for you as I have found out today

I have a new site which I have started this last week for people to join Scrappy Time

competitions ~ working display

Our local town has a art weekend coming up and I have been asked to do a display on scrapbooking and enter some of my photos into a competition

1st prize money is $400 so it's worth entering the photos have to be of local area and I have a few good ones that I can enter no harm in trying

I may come out with a dollar or two but time will tell

exciting

I'm a scrapbooker and part of a design team well 2 months ago I was asked to submitt some work andthey wanted to published it in there magazine

They have done that and it came out last Monday I'm so proud to have my work displayed in a magazine for everyone to see

was truely amazing to be asked and I have been asked to submitt more of my work to the magazine so it's a start of a new adventure for me on my scrapping journey

Flu Hurray up and go

over the last month or so I have had a cough and it turned into the flu last week I haven't eaten much and lost some weight which isn't a bad thing my family where great and left me to be sitting and doing nothing at all

even my youngest helped with meals and doing things for me which made me feel special as a mum who was sick .I did however work and had to cancel a training day and only worked for a few hours on Saturday .

feeling uinder the weather still and lived on soup for most of the week soup has became my best friend as everything taste's the same and it's awful. I really do like food and it's not good when everything taste the same as I don't enjoy it one little bit

Published

Yay it's out and looks great

I brought my magazine last week and I have 2 pages for my layout

Marcus wasn't over impressed with me but I thought the magazine did a great job in displaying my layout

Being a step by step was a bonus as well

took me four years to get there with the help of some great friends

It's great to be published at last

Autumn

Autumn Season and it wont be long winter will be here it's starting to pop it's face around the corner with the cooler nights and days.
At the start of Autumn I did a cc at Scrapping Around and this is one of my layouts I did it was my ch and you had to use 9 small pieces of pattern paper which I did mine are added down the bottom of my page
Photo was taken by me and it's my garden I got nice and close and used macro setting on my camera which gave a nicer and clear photo in the long run with the colour cystal clear
I'm enjoying the last few days of Autumn before winter hits us very hard and fast but I wont mind as it's great for scrapping by the fire
The layout also has my own hand writing on it as I love using my own handwriting because when I'm gone it will be something to treasure forever

Friday Night Girls In Layout

This was a Friday Night Girls In Ch Monique set it and we had no photos to go by it was all typed up the way she wanted us to create our layout

Photos are taken of my middle teen enjoying summer 10 ten minutes away from our place set in the wild bush of Tassie is a small pinic spot with a swimming hole

We all had a great time and thank you for taking time to look at my layout

This layout took me 30 mins all up very simple and quick but I'm happy with it

Aussie Mateship

you hear people say their mates its great living in Australia because of the mateships you make

we didn't realize until our son was hurt how many friends and mates he had made along the way and since moving away from home he has met lots of other people and feels so much part of the town we live in

He said no one likes the girl for what she did to him and he had lots of people ask him if he was okay

I still have people ask about him

they say to me , I know your son is he okay

yep he is but I want to thank his mates for believing in him , helping him when the need was required of them all and for caring

Teens don't get a lot of credit due to that they are teens and they do silly things

yep they do silly things but you know what you gotta love them because every teen has some good inside somewhere

not over yet

We are waiting on a court case date for my son

he went back to the dentist and he needs to go back in 3 months time

I hope it's all sorted quickly but it will be a long term event because of his dentist trips we usually pay for him and teh last time he went it was $195.00 for 30 minutes while they removed tooth glue from his teeth

He now looks normal still has to be very careful in the way he eats but is improving so thats all we can hope for and that osts will be given back to us soon

it has made our family stronger and it was and still is amazing to seehow my sons have got through this together

Workshops for me

I have been aske to be part of our arts festival weekend coming up in June

It was an honour to be asked and I said yes I'll do that for you

they want to showcase scrapbooking and photo's so I can do both

can't wait just need to work out what to take and do for the weekend

PUSHLISHED

Whooo I'm so excited I'm going to be a PUBLISHED Scrapbooker

I had tried lots of times submitting and gave up and never thought much more about it but then
I sent in 2 letters to a mag with layouts attached and my letters WON STAR LETTER of the month .

When the editor asked for my address to send out my book prize she asked would I like to submitt to there MAGAZINE ~ Creative Cardmaking and papermaking

I said I would like to as she really liked one of my layouts so in the next couple of months a magazine should hit the shelves with a 2 page step by step in it for beginners and it will be my layout

I will let everyone know when the Magazine is out in stores

I can't wait

It's really hard to get over things when your family isn't in the wrong
